INTERVIEW

What brought you to One Life?

My friend referred me to One Life. I told my husband that I would not buy a new computer and save money by fixing the old one if I could go see Dr. Haynes and start the One Life plan. Once he agreed, I made an appointment to go see him!

How much weight did you lose?

So far I have lost 55 pounds - and I am still losing! My husband even joined and we started to do the diet together. My goal before I started One Life was 150. Once I saw how easy it was I changed my goal to 130.

How was it doing One Life as a couple?

It was great. We were both seeing such fast results so it really motivated both of us to keep going. We would plan our days worth of “blocks” together. During our meals we would literally put the food scale between us and measure out our food. We would get really creative together with meals that we ate.

Have you always struggled with your weight?

I was always pretty thin. I only really “dieted” 11 years ago before my wedding. I got really thin before my wedding and then just gradually put on the weight. I gained most of my weight, and really began to struggle, after I became pregnant with the twins. I gained so much in my first trimester and never really took it off. I always just put up with the weight gain and never really knew how to take it off. I had tried losing the weight by working out, but I found that slow and strenuous. I knew that I needed to develop a healthy relationship with food and learn how to eat to lose weight and live life healthy. That is why I joined One Life. It was really easy to lose the weight. I lost more than I thought I had to lose because it was so simple.

What has One Life taught you about weight loss?

The number one thing that I learned was the impact different foods have on hunger level and caloric intake. I don’t eat toast anymore with breakfast. I have also learned the importance of protein each day to help with the weight loss as well as my mental stability. My body now actually craves protein and veggies. I now realize I can be so full eating 10 shrimp versus a bagel.

What are some of your go to tips and tricks to stay on track?

I really like to cook and I would create meals that were super easy to count. I would swap out the taco shell and do a lettuce wrap and load up on “free” veggies to make myself full. Using the food scale was very important for me and my husband. We are now very aware of our food portions and keep each other accountable.

What would you say to someone thinking about joining One Life?

I would say that I have so many friends that have lost weight and then gained it back and that One Life is the only place that will give you the tools to succeed and keep the weight off for good. You won’t be crippled and left clueless by eating meals prepared and measured for you. You will know how to order out at a restaurant and still enjoy life while dieting. One Life is really the only way to go if you are serious about making permanent changes in your life.
