Juicy Turkey Burgers

Ingredients

  • 1 pound 99%  ground turkey, raw

  • ¼ cup pork panko

  • ¼ cup yellow onion, grated

  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced

  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon paprika, sweet or smoked

  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, optional

  • ¾ teaspoon salt, or to taste

  • ½ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper, or to taste

  • olive oil spray

  • 4 slices cheddar cheese

  • 4 leaves butterhead lettuce

  • 1 avocado, thinly sliced

    *Optional toppings: red onion rings, tomato slices

instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl combine ground turkey, pork panko, onion, garlic, worcestershire sauce, paprika, pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper; using your hands to mix until thoroughly combined.

  2. Divide mixture into 4 patties.

  3. Set a large 12-inch skillet over medium heat and spray with olive oil.

  4. To the hot pan add the patties and cook for about 4 to 5 minutes, or until browned on the bottom.

  5. Flip over and cook for about 5 more minutes ( or until the internal temperature of the patties reaches 165˚F).

  6. Remove turkey patties from heat, top with cheese.

  7. Place turkey burgers in lettuce leaves.

  8. Top turkey burgers with avocado and red onion/tomato slices if using and serve.
