I am 67 years old and I just thought at my age it would be impossible to lose weight at this stage in my life. I just assumed men grow old and get fat. I started One Life after seeing the success my daughter had and it was like a magic wand was waved and I became the thinest I had been since in my teens. One Life just works and I am proof.

INTERVIEW

What brought you to One Life?

My daughter Alexia began going to One Life and recommended it to me. After she was on it for 2 weeks - she motivated me to go for an appointment.

Have you always struggled with your weight?

I had been trying to lose the weight on my own, but I was finding it difficult, as I got older. I have never maintained my weight loss. Since my teens I remember losing weight and then gradually gaining it back. I am new to the United States. I came here from South Africa 5 years ago. With the changes in lifestyle and culture, I started to let myself go. I was the largest I had been in many years and I was really motivated for a change as I began One Life.

How much weight did you lose?

I started in April 2013 and lost 42 pounds by September. I noticed a difference in the first two weeks. The accountability of checking in every week is key. I am 67 years old and I just thought at my age it would be impossible to lose weight at this stage in my life. I just assumed - men grow old and get fat.

How easy was it to implement One Life into your daily life?

I was very motivated this time around, but I found One Life remarkably easy. I have done every diet ever written about but my self-discipline and motivation was a huge player with One Life. I’ve come accustomed to a whole new way of eating now. One Life suits my lifestyle and suits me. I have always loved protein, but I have learned to cut the bad carbs out. I love fruit and I learned to not eat as much and I even cut out drinking. It is about making this diet work with your lifestyle, and these were changes I wanted to make.

How long have you maintained your weight loss?

It's been about 8 weeks. I find that if I am at the higher end of my weight range, I do a few protein only days and then the next week I am back down. I like the weekly accountability of weighing in and I will continue to go until I feel comfortable enough with staying at my goal.

What is the main difference between One Life and other diets you have done?

One Life actually works! And it is so easy. Its like a magic wand was waved and I became the thinnest I had been since in my teens. At this stage in my life - I thought this weight loss was impossible and now that I am here - I do not want to gain it back. I see men my age that can barely move and it keeps me motivated to never gain the weight back as I feel so good now. I am even off my blood pressure meds that I was instructed to take by my doctor and my blood work is now normal.

How do you like the new you?

Well for one it has been expensive because I have had to buy a whole new set of clothes. I used to only wear XXL and now I order large and will sometimes find it is too big. It is a nice problem to have but an expensive one. Recently I took a trip back to South Africa to visit family and friends and my daughter suggested I send an email out to everyone to tell them about my accomplished weight loss so that they would not assume that I was sick. Again - a nice problem to have.

What would you say to someone thinking about joining One Life?

I have already referred my realtor. Seeing me thin was a big shock to him, as he had not seen me in a while. I sold it to him just from one look - and I just told him what great lifestyle changes I have made. So no need to say much. It just works and I am proof.
